From Nurse to Health Administrator: Amara's ODEL Journey

29 September 2026 · 7 min read · by Mr. Daniel Tesfaye

Amara Nwosu spent eight years as a ward nurse in Lagos before enrolling in EIU's Bachelor of Public Health. "I chose ODEL because I could not stop working," she says. "The drip-released content meant I always knew exactly what to study each evening, and my class WhatsApp group became my second family." Three years later, she graduated with a first-class award and was promoted to hospital operations manager.

Amara's story mirrors a broader pattern in EIU's graduate outcomes: 87% of surveyed alumni report career advancement — a promotion, new role or salary increase — within eighteen months of graduating. The university pairs every learner with a faculty mentor and offers live virtual tutorials on Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.

"If you are waiting for the perfect time to go back to school," Amara advises new learners, "the perfect time is a phone, a plan and EIU."
