EIU offers flexible and accessible undergraduate programs designed for students from diverse educational backgrounds. Whether you're a recent high school graduate or an adult learner seeking to advance your education, our admissions process is streamlined to help you succeed.
General Admission Requirements
To be eligible for undergraduate programs at EIU, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- High School Diploma - Graduation from a state-approved or regionally accredited high school.
- High School Equivalency - Passing scores on a recognized exam such as the GED (General Educational Development).
- Homeschool or Alternative Education - Completion of a homeschool or non-traditional high school program meeting state/local education standards.
- Non-U.S. High School Credential - Graduation from an international high school with an evaluation confirming equivalence to a U.S. diploma.
- Prior College Experience - An associate degree or at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Must be in good academic standing with any previously attended institutions.
- Military Service - Submission of a Community College of the Air Force transcript or equivalent documentation.
